Fall Apple Dutch Baby
Ingredients:
I make this recipe in a 12-inch oven-proof and non-stick pan. This recipe is perfect for a family of 4 or more or the perfect addition to a breakfast or brunch menu for a party.
2 medium-sized apples
3 Tablespoons of unsalted butter
3 Tablespoons of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
A pinch of nutmeg
6 eggs, room temperature if possible
2 Tablespoons of packed dark brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup of milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Prepare the Batter: In a blender, combine the eggs, flour, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Alternatively, you can whisk these ingredients together in a mixing bowl until you have a smooth batter.
Let the batter sit while you work on the apples.
Core and chop the apples.
Add butter to an oven-proof skillet. Turn on medium heat.
Cook apples until tender. About 5-10 minutes.
Turn the heat to low.
Add brown sugar, and apple pie spice to the apples and mix.
Spread out the apples in a single layer. Slowly pour the batter over cooked the apples.
Add a pinch of nutmeg to the top.
Bake 20 minutes in the oven.
